Cyclists have for years appreciated the benefits of merino wool. It is nature’s performance fabric; wicking, breathable, naturally antibacterial and is an excellent choice for high exertion pursuits. Sometimes though it’s nice to enjoy merino for its other qualities, as an exceptionally comfortable and insulating material.
Our Bealach Winter Pullover is named after the Gaelic term for a mountain pass, but more specifically the Bealach Na Ba, or the ‘Pass of the Cattle’, a formidable single-track road in the Scottish Highlands. When you’re tackling this beast on a bike, all you can think about is kicking back in front of the fire in a warm, comfy sweater.
For the Bealach Winter Pullover we’ve used a heavier five-gauge knit, which dials up the comfort factor and the thermal benefits. Then we’ve added a flattering saddle shoulder seam and crew neck, while keeping the fit slim and embroidered our trademark VB initials, also in a wool stitch, to the left sleeve.
The Pullover is also machine washable at 30º on a wool machine wash cycle.
